Zara
is a singer, songwriter, producer & accredited educator
Teaching online and from her home studio, close to Brighton's city centre, Zara offers singing, piano, music production, and GCSE music tuition from beginners to professionals, when she is not writing music for film & TV, or walking her little dog Nala.
Zara started out vocal coaching in 2014 after finishing a music degree that specialised in music performance and vocal pedagogy. She has since then expanded her lessons to include the many skills she has learnt along the way, all whilst building a career in the music industry:

FROM BEGINNERS TO ADVANCED
VOCAL COACHING
Whether you are currently a shower-singer wanting to take that first step vocally, or perhaps an advanced singer looking to learn more and to keep your voice in great condition, Zara is a voice expert who caters each lesson to the individual student and has been vocal coaching for over 10 years.
Zara specialises in contemporary music, and does not teach classical technique or repertoire.
Some students also work towards grades, usually following the RSL and Trinity exam boards.
PIANO
Zara also provides keyboard lessons for beginners.
Her teaching approach is geared towards popular music piano playing as opposed to classical methods. Lessons include chords, scales, music notation, improvisation and how to play your favourite songs.
SONGWRITING
Whether you’re starting from stratch or want some guidance on a song you’ve already started, Zara’s students find her songwriting lessons inspiring and useful - there are so many tips & tricks to learn!

FAQs
WHAT AGES DO YOU TEACH?
Even though I think younger children really benefit from music lessons I personally teach 12 years old and above including adults - in fact my students are 50-50 children & adults!
ONLINE LESSONS
Lessons can easily be taught online! I use the platform Zoom and you can learn in the comfort of your own home and cut the annoying travel time.
CANCELLATIONS
My cancellation policy is a minimum of 48 hours. I will try to reschedule a lesson and want to be as accommodating as possible, however any lessons that are cancelled/missed with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged. This is standard practice amongst music teachers in order to protect our incomes.
Will you provide LYRICS & backing tracks?
Yes - once you become a student of mine I will make you a folder on Dropbox where you can access all our notes and lyrics that we work on together. I can also provide warm up tracks for you to use before our lesson and whenever you are practicing without me.
WILL I NEED TO BUY ANYTHING FOR MY MUSIC PRODUCTION LESSON
Not at first. I teach using the professional software Ableton Live, and they offer a free version that you can use at home whilst starting our lessons. Eventually might want to consider purchasing the pro version.
WHat should I expect from my first singing lesson?
Our first lesson is for me to get to know what you find easy and what you find more difficult. We talk a little about your musical background (if any), and warm up our voice. My exercises don’t just warm up the voice but they also focus on improving certain areas e.g strengthening, flexibilty, or perhaps tuning.
We will then work on a song of your choice - I can give you some ideas too!
